Today I am sharing an embossing project with you. I am fairly new to heat embossing but I can tell you this, I think I am in love with this technique! I made a Project Life card using the Today and the Outline It stamp sets and I just love the way it turned out.
I used a Versamark Watermark Stamp Pad and Zing as well as Recollections embossing powder. I also used a heat gun (not shown here).
I "inked" up that gorgeous We Are script stamp (designed by the lovely Jodie of Polka Dot Creative, link below) with Versamark and stamped just as I would have with an ink. Here is what it looks like on a piece of card stock.
As you can see the Versamark leaves a slightly wet, almost sticky, impression on the card stock. Next I sprinkled the embossing powder over the stamped image, making sure that the entire image was covered and then tapped off all of the excess powder. I used my heat gun and moved it around until the powder set with this gorgeous gold finish. I'm not sure this photo does it justice, but it is gorgeous in person :)
I repeated this process until the entire card was stamped and embossed. I tried stamping the whole card at once and adding the embossing powder over the entire card but it was difficult to get the look I wanted and found I had better luck going line by line.
I also used the Outline It set and stamped out the word Family using the same process. I should mention that before I set the image with embossing powder I carefully brush away any stray powder using a paintbrush. If excess powder isn't removed, some of it remains after using the heat gun and the image doesn't look as good.
Here's the completed page. The yellow background is actually the inside of my album :)
And here's another page I made using the same set of stamps. I embossed "Today" using a black Zing embossing powder and used StazOn for the "was awesome" and the numbers for the date.
So there you have it! Please leave a comment here and then hop on over to all the other ladies blog's and comment there as well to be entered into the giveaway of a Kellie Stamps stamp set.
