It's been one of those weeks. We had a long weekend due to the Columbus Day holiday and had plans to go to a local place full of nature and and those gorgeous changing autumn colors. My little guy was sick though so we changed our plans and stayed home. Well, I further mixed things up with a little visit to the emergency room and then an overnight hospital stay. Fun times. I am doing fine now but will need some follow up as well as taking better care of myself. As I'm sure we all do.
Seriously though, we had absolutely no fun this past week and have all been feeling stressed. The kids got a break from all the goings on around here by going back to school, haha. I was left with playing catch up and taking lots of deep breaths and thinking a lot about how to have better health.
I'm of the age now where I need to be more mindful of my health. I can no longer eat whatever I want or get away without consciously exercising. I need be putting better food into my body and exercising with more purpose. It would do me a world of good and also set a good example for my kids because there comes a time in everyone's life when our bodies change and the health that was once a given, now has to be earned. I guess this is my public service announcement to take care of yourself. Some of what I struggle with is due to genetics but I know I can contribute much more to my own health.
With that said I felt very stressed and it was almost time for after school pick up and I had the urge to work on my 31 minutes for 31 days album. I love documenting our lives and holding the memories for our family and telling our stories. This is something I happily do because it is important and I enjoy it. But getting creative is also a form of therapy for me and on this particular day, I needed it. I took ten minutes and put this together for my 4 x 4 On My Walk album. I talked about it in this previous post in case you missed it.
I cannot even begin to tell you how therapeutic it was to take a few minutes working with pretty paper and photos of my littles. It really was as easy as one, two, three and left me feeling more relaxed and ready to get back to my responsibilities with a happy heart.
My message here is to take good care of yourself and that includes taking a bit of time for YOU with a relaxing activity, even if only for ten minutes like I did here. Your mind and body will thank you.
As always, thank you so much for reading. I really appreciate your time stopping by here. Happy Friday to you :)
